It was layered with limestone and granite
Unseen and without substance
But the instant I put
Pen to paper
The idea exploded
Billowing clouds carried
Sulphur-laced smoke high into my brain
And thick dust sprinkled over the page
With the heat-washed air
Leaving behind
Temporary deafness
And a clearer field of vision
